The dog is part of my life in intricate and intimate ways. Ways that no human can come close to replicating.
Out walking this morning, the day was warming up quickly, he looks up at me with what I always perceive as a smile. He rubs against my leg, and I can feel his cool nose on my skin. One of the dearest caresses.
The best part about the dog is that our relationship is uncomplicated in ways that human relationships can never be. It’s no wonder we domesticated such an amazing animal. It’s that uncompromisingly simplistic yet profound sense of devotion that we need to feel on a regular basis.
The relationship is riddled with cooperation, unity, and conviction that we will always have each other’s backs.
