Marsha was eating in the kitchen when the phone rang. Kris wanted to come over to talk.

Later, when she arrived at the door, Marsha was just pulling some coffee cake out of the over. The scent of cinnamon filled the house. The air outside was cool, not cold, and she thought they could sit on the back porch.

Kris brought wine. It’s all she had at home. It was at least cold.

Kris: here, it’s all I had! I’m sorry.

Marsha: I guess this will go nicely with coffee cake.

Later, on the patio, after they had drunk the wine and eaten most of the coffee cake, Kris leaned over to give Marsha a hug, and instead, kissed her on the cheek, which made Marsha blush.
